State railways company CFR increases train ride price in Romania
The company will continue to apply a 50 percent discount on subscriptions for frequent travelers and a 75 percent discount for students.
The last train ticket price increase in Romania happened in September last year. The price of a train ticket from Bucharest to Ploiesti on a Rapid train in the second class train will increase from RON 21.5 to RON 25.4 (around EUR 6). A train ride from Bucharest to the seaside city of Constanta will for the same Rapid train, second class, will grow from RON 52.2 to RON 61.6 (around EUR 14.4).
CFR is one of the state-run companies in Romania poised to have private management, as asked by the International Monetary Fund, which has given Romania a precautionary loan, the second such agreement after a two-year stand-by loan.
