Romania’s video chat industry tripled its earnings in 2016, reaching EUR 100 million, according to official data released by the main companies in the sector yesterday, cited by local Agerpres.

“The last three years have seen a boom in the video chat market in Romania. In one year, the turnover, as well as the profits of large companies in the market tripled over the previous year,” according to industry representatives.

The country’s video industry became the largest in the world, according to the local industry. Romania currently has 3,000 legal video chat studios, which employ 10,000 models.

According to statistics quoted by the video chat industry, 5% of all internet users, the equivalent of more than 150 million people, use video chat services, and most of them are based in North America.

One of the best-known video chat websites in the world, with 20 million subscribers, works with two million models. Most of them are from Eastern Europe.
