Romania's Start-Up Nation program starts this week

12 June 2017

Romania’s Ministry of Business Environment, Trade, and Entrepreneurship will launch the Start-Up Nation government program on Thursday, June 15.

The program offers up to RON 200,000 (EUR 43,900) worth of non-refundable financing for newly established companies that meet several criteria.

The program’s aim is to have 10,000 new start-ups launched this year and support the creation of at least 10,000 new jobs. It has an overall budget of RON 1.7 billion (EUR 373 million), covered from the state budget and from EU funds.

“The Start-Up Nation program is the most ambitious program aimed at supporting entrepreneurship in Romania, and has generated a huge interest among those interested in opening a business,” said business environment minister Alexandru Petrescu.

“We have respected the calendar set in the governing program and have thought the program’s architecture in such a way that the application process is simple and transparent, so that we have a high number of beneficiaries.”

The electronic application through which projects will be submitted for the Start-Up Nation program was open for testing over the weekend. The program will become active on June 15, at 10:00 AM.
