Romanian state employees to be promoted and rewarded based on performance criteria

26 January 2016

The Romanian Government's Ministries have come up with a series of performance criteria based on which the state employees should be promoted and rewarded financially. The new criteria are to be included in the new public sector wage law.

According to official documents cited by local Profit.ro, the state employees who want to get promotions will be evaluated based on several criteria such as their moral and ethical standards, accountability, their respect for “order and discipline at work,” and their ability to work alone and as part of a team.

When it comes to bonuses, the employees will be rewarded based on the extra hours at work and the extra activities, the conduct in the workplace, the quantity and quality of the work completed, and the time they need to perform a task.

The doctors will also be evaluated based on their loyalty to the hospital where they work and on how available they are for additional effort. They will also receive monthly bonuses depending on how satisfied their patients are, and their involvement in the use of equipment and materials “by the norms of consumption.”

The judges will get bonuses based on the number of cases, the number of judgments delivered, the number of sessions attended, and the time they take to solve the cases.

The state employees who work in museums will be evaluated based on specific criteria such as the direct participation in opening new sections and the involvement in restoration works.

The Foreign Ministry’s employees should get financial bonuses based on their contribution to managing and solving crises in consular relations or foreign policy, and on how well they help organize the Romanian officials' visits abroad.
