Romanian media mogul stays in jail for ten years

Romanian media mogul Dan Voiculescu stays with the ten-year sentence for fraud in the privatization of the Agriculture Research Institute (ICA).

The Supreme Court rejected his appeal on Tuesday, January 27, and the decision is final, reports local Mediafax.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal sentenced Dan Voiculescu at ten years in jail in August last year.

Gheorghe Mencinicopschi, former director of ICA, received 8 years in jail, and former minister Sorin Pantis got 7 years in prison.

Voiculescu, a former senator and leader of the Conservative Party (PC), owns the Intact Media Group that includes the Antena 1 and Antena 3 television stations.
