Romanian and Lithuanian officials plant 100 oaks in Bucharest

Romanian and Lithuanian officials have inaugurated on Thursday, April 19, the “100 oaks” park in Bucharest. They planted oaks during this event, which marked the celebration of the 1918 Great Union Centennial in Romania, as well as 100 years since Lithuania gained its independence.

Viktoras Pranckietis, the speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament, attended the event. He said the planting of the 100 oaks is a symbol of friendship between Romania and Lithuania, local News.ro reported.

The Ambassador of Lithuania in Romania Arvydas Pocius, Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea, District 4 mayor Daniel Baluta and the minister of waters and forests Ioan Denes were also among the participants. The Bucharest mayor said Romania would return the gesture, and 100 oaks would also be planted in the capital of Lithuania.

The “100 oaks” park is located in Bucharest’s District 4, at the edge of the Oraselul Copiilor Park.
