03 February 2015

Romanian state-owned airline Tarom started selling return tickets for international destinations for prices starting at EUR 99, all taxes included. The offer is valid until February 15, the company announced.

The special prices are valid for all direct routes operated by Tarom, which link Romanian cities to several external destinations: Bucharest to Amman, Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Beirut, Belgrade, Brussels, Budapest, Chisinau, Dubai, Frankfurt, Geneva, Istanbul, London, Larnaca, Madrid, Moscow, Munich, Nice, Paris, Prague, Rome, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Stockholm, Tel Aviv, Valencia, Vienna; Iasi to London (Luton), Bologna, Rome (Fiumicino), Tel Aviv, Turin; Sibiu to Munich and Cluj-Napoca to Vienna.

“Passengers can use this offer to travel at any time, except for the following periods: April 9-16, August 1-31, and December 21, 2015 – January 10, 2016. If at least one trip is in one of these periods, the offer does not apply,” reads Tarom’s statement.

Tickets are selling online via m.tarom.ro, and through Tarom agencies and authorized agents.

The airline also specified that the number of seats is limited and the minimum period of a stay is four days. Stays can also be shorter if they include the night between Saturday and Sunday. The maximum duration of a stay is 14 days.

This offer is Tarom’s second discount campaign this year. The airline also recently announced that it would lower ticket prices for groups travelling on internal and external routes.

Tarom transported an estimated 2.2 million passengers in 2014, slightly more than in 2013, according to company representatives. The traffic figures in 2013 and 2014 have been below the management’s targets.

The airline has been recording losses for the last six years, which totalled some EUR 270 million (2008-2013). The budget for 2014 was also in the red.

Tarom was established in 1954 and operates under Romania’s Ministry of Transport. Its fleet comprises 24 aircrafts.
