Romania records a budget deficit of 0.14% of GDP in first quarter

Romania’s budget had a deficit of RON 900 million (EUR 200 million) in the first quarter, or some 0.14 percent of the Gross Domestic Product GDP, down from 0.46 percent of GDP at the end of February and 0.67 percent of GDP recorded in the same period of 2013.

The consolidated budget revenues amounted to RON 48.8 billion (some EUR 10.8 billion) in the first three months, representing 7.4 percent of the GDP. Compared to the same period in 2013, the revenues increased by 3.8 percent, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.

The expenses totaled RON 49.7 billion (EUR 11 billion), representing 7.4 percent of GDP.
