Romania gets new president for Superior Council of Magistracy

06 January 2015

Judge Marius Tudose was recently elected president of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), while the attorney Bogdan Gabor was elected vice president. Marius Tudose was elected by the majority of the CSM judges, overrunning his rival Alexandru Serban. Tudose will replace judge Adrian Bordea, the former president who ended his mandate. By law, the CSM elects a new president every year.

Bogdan Gabor was the only candidate for the vice president position. Gabor also ran for the same position in 2014, but his opponent George Muscalu was then elected.

Marius Tudose (42) has been a member of CSM since 2011 and began his career as magistrate in 1995. Bogdan Gabor (39) has been a member of CSM since 2012. Between 2007 and 2010, Gabor was prosecutor at the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in Cluj.
