Romania gets EUR 74 mln from the EU to decontaminate oil-polluted sites

23 April 2014

The European Commission approved a EUR 74 million co-financing package for Romania to decontaminate several oil-polluted sites across the country. This would allow the country to fulfill its environmental obligations, and reduce ecological risks.

The entire investment will be of EUR 119.7 million, out of which the EU will pledge EUR 74.3 million via the Environmental Sectorial Program. The project should be implemented by 2015.

Decontamination measures will be applied for the Doljchim industrial platform, the refineries Petrobrazi and Arpechim, as well as for 25 exploration and production installations in nine counties.
