Romania has banned live cattle and sheep export to the EU after several outbreaks of the blue tongue disease were discovered in the country. Romanian farmers are no longer allowed to sell beef and sheep meat to Russia, Jordan and Saudi Arabia either.
These countries have banned imports from Romania earlier this summer. The Blue Tongue Disease affects cattle and sheep in 23 Romanian counties, according to veterinary inspectors.
