Prosecutors from the Romanian Anticorruption Directorate DNA seized part of former tourism minister Elena Udrea’s properties and money, according to lawyer Marius Striblea, quoted by local Mediafax. Prosecutors said the seized amount is of several millions of RON.

The same measure was also taken in the case of other defendants in the “Gala Bute” case, related to the illegal financing of a boxing gala. The lawyer added that Elena Udrea was expecting authorities to take such a measure against her.

Former minister Elena Udrea and former president of the Romanian Boxing Federation Rudel Obreja, both arrested in this case, were brought to DNA headquarters on Friday morning, February 27, for statements, together with former economy minister Ion Ariton, currently placed under judicial control.

Elena Udrea was arrested for 30 days earlier this week.
