The Enigmatic Birds (Pasari enigmatice) painting signed by painter Ion Tuculescu sold for EUR 55,000 at the Winter Auction organized by Artmark auction house, the highest price for which an art item was sold at this event.

Romanian painter Theodor Pallady came second in the top with Still Life with Lilacs and Pipe (Natura statica cu liliac si pipa), which sold for EUR 40,000. This was followed by Theodor Aman’s Costume Party Evening (Seara de bal mascat) – EUR 20,000 and Nicolae Grigorescu’s oil sketch The Shepherd (Ciobanas) – also sold for EUR 20,000.

Some 500 art enthusiasts attended Artmark’s last auction this year, organized on December 17, which registered total sales of almost EUR 650,000. Artmark will organize its first 2015 auction on February 4.
