Lower revenues for Bucharest Stock Exchange as transactions decline

Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), the main capital market operator in Romania, reduced its turnover by 13% in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same period of last year as share trading declined.

BVB had revenues of some EUR 0.91 million from trading fees, trading data dissemination and other market related activities, down from over EUR 1 million in the first quarter of 2014. The total share trading went down by 10% year-on-year, to EUR 475 million.

The operating profit went down five times, to EUR 56,000. However, the operator’s net profit went up by 17%, to some EUR 365,000, due to higher financial revenues.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange is a public company and its main shareholders are local and foreign institutional investors such as Erste Group, ING, Franklin Templeton and others. The operator has a market capitalization of EUR 66 million.
