Lending to private sector goes up 6.1% in Romania in one year

The total non-governmental loans in Romania reached RON 236 billion (EUR 50.7 billion) in March, up by 6.1% compared to March 2017, according to Romania’s National Bank (BNR) data.

The loans in local currency RON went up 15.9% year on year while the foreign currency loans declined by 7.7%.

When compared to February, the non-governmental loans increased by 1.4%.

The total deposits held by companies and individuals in local banks also increased by 10.8% in March 2018 versus March 2017, reaching RON 303.7 billion (EUR 83.2 billion). The deposits in local currency went up 10.2% and those in foreign currency increased by 11.9%.

However, the deposits went down by 0.7% compared to February.
