Over 300 to get Romanian citizenship on Monday

The oath is the last step in the citizenship process, following which the Romanian citizenship certificate will be issued. The majority of those who will receive their citizenship come from the Republic of Moldova.
The Authority received more than 54,000 requests for obtaining the Romanian citizenship this year, out of which 18,400 have been solved since the beginning of the year. Most of these files were submitted by Romanians who had lost their citizenship for various reasons. 746 request had been filed by Romanians who had given up on their citizenship, while only 209 from people who had never had Romanian citizenship.
The cost of submitting a request to receive Romanian citizenship is of EUR 65, while the cost of giving up on the Romanian citizenship is of EUR 605.
Those who apply for the Romanian citizenship need to know Romanian – both written and spoken, the Romanian Constitution and the Romanian Anthem, as well as basic Romanian culture and civilization facts – history, geography, arts and literature.
