Former US ambassador to Romania launches Bucharest Diary in New York

Alfred H. Moses, who was the US ambassador to Romania for three years between 1994-1997, will launch his memoir Bucharest Diary: An American Ambassador’s Journey - Romania from darkness to light at the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in New York this Thursday, February 21.

The biography book, which looks at Romania’s transition to democracy, covering a crucial period in the country’s recent history, was originally published in July 2018.

The Thursday launch at ICR New York will be organized as a dialogue between Alfred H. Moses and Mark A. Meyer, national chairman of the Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce. Dorian Branea, director of ICR New York, will moderate the talk. More details are available here.

Alfred H. Moses graduated from Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University in 1952 and Georgetown University Law School in 1956. For two years, between 1980 and 1981, he was one of Jimmy Carter's principal advisers and then, during the administration of president Bill Clinton, he was appointed ambassador of the United States to Romania (1994-1997). Between 1999 and 2001, he was the special representative of the US president in Cyprus. He also served as chairman of the American Jewish Committee.
