IBM Romania's country manager becomes president of AmCham

Valeriu Nistor, Country Manager IBM Romania, is the new president of the board with AmCham – the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania. Nistor replaces Sorin Mandrutescu, country general manager of Oracle Romania, who ended his one-year mandate at the helm of AmCham. Each year, AmCham members elect a new leadership team.

Nistor, who is former general manager of Xerox Romania and Austria, came at the helm of IBM Romania earlier this year, replacing Bogdan Balaci.

Nistor ran Xerox Austria between 2004 and 2006, and Xerox Romania between 2001 and 2003, after starting his career with Xerox in 1997, as marketing manager. In 2007, he founded SOAR Management and Investitii, which specializes in crisis management and restructuring. Valeriu Nistor is a Polytechnics University graduate from 1991 and holds post-university degrees from the Academy of Economic Sciences (ASE) and Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris.

Following the recent annual general meeting, AmCham also chose its two vice-presidents: Nadia Crişan, Managing Director McGuirewoods Consulting Romania and Radu Florescu, CEO Saatchi&Saatchi. Treasurer was appointed James Stewart, Vice-President with Raiffeisen Bank.

Members at large of the AmCham Romania Board of Directors also include: Violeta Ciurel, President&CEO - AXA Life Insurance, Valeriu Alexandru Binig, Director, Energy &Resources Leader – Deloitte, Anda Todor, Managing Partner - Dentons (Former Salans), Daniela Nemoianu, Executive Partner – KPMG Romania, Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner- Ernst&Young, Sorin Mîndruţescu, Country General Manager - Oracle Romania, Hans Dewaele, Vice-President, General Manager Balkans – Procter&Gamble. The members of the board were elected by vote by AmCham members last week.
