Four people were arrested and one was placed under judicial control after allegedly stealing almost 400 luxury bags from a truck parked in the courtyard of a trading company in Bihor county, Western Romania. The value of the handbags, which the local media says are Prada bags, amounts to over EUR 160,000.

Police officers from Bihor county carried out 16 home searches on Wednesday, April 18, in the counties of Bihor, Sibiu, Arad, Brasov and Cluj. They targeted the homes of several people suspected of theft or of trying to keep the robbery a secret.

The Romanian Police says the four suspects broke into the courtyard of the company based in Arieseni, Bihor county, in the night of January 23 to January 24, and stole 376 luxury bags from a truck parked there. Then, four other people helped them sell part of the stolen bags.

During the searches, the police officers found and recovered some of the stolen bags, as well as electronic equipment, hundreds of cosmetics packed in boxes and other goods they believe were also stolen.

The investigation continues in this case, as the police officers hope to recover all the stolen bags.
