Greek Eurobank appoints new CEO for Romania’s tenth largest bank Bancpost

George Georgakopoulos, the vice president in charge of retail of Bancpost, the tenth largest bank in Romania, will take over as CEO from Antonis Hassiotis, according to Ziarul Financiar.

Georgakopoulos will coordinate all of Eurobank’s operations in Romania, but he must first get approval from Romania’s National Bank.

He has been working in Bancpost for the last six years and was in charge with developing the retail segment. He previously worked for 13 years at Barclays Group.

Antonis Hassiotis has been CEO of Banpost since October 2012.

Bancpost recorded losses of EUR 30 million, in 2013, 2.5 times higher compared to 2012. The bank’s assets were EUR 2.68 billion, at the end of 2013. This makes Bancpost the tenth largest bank on the local market, with 3.3% market share.
