Foreign direct investment drops by 10% in Romania

Foreign direct investment (FDI) fell by 10.6% last year in Romania to about EUR 2.43 billion. In 2013, the FDI reached a peak of EUR 2.71 billion after the economic crisis.

In December last year, Romania raised funds worth EUR 304 million, according to data from the Romanian National Bank (BNR), cited by local Mediafax.

It was the third highest level last year, after November, with EUR 531 million and May, with EUR 306 million.

The country recorded the lowest investment levels in February, with EUR 36 million and October, with EUR 80 million.

In 2013, foreign direct investment increased by 26.8% year-on-year to EUR 2.71 billion.
