A total of 18,215 people have claimed the prize offered at the first fiscal receipt lottery organized in Romania on April 13. The deadline for claiming the prize was May 13.

The RON 1 million prize (some EUR 225,000) will be split between all winners. If all receipts are validated, the value of one prize will be RON 54.9 (EUR 12.3).

Most claims were submitted in Bucharest – 2,348, reports local Mediafax. Of this total, 512 were registered in District 6, 429 in District 2, 415 in District 4, 399 in District 3, 338 in District 5 and 221 in District 1.

Over 1,000 claims were submitted at the Public Finance Administration office in Cluj, 888 in Brasov, 767 in Iasi, 709 in Hunedoara and 684 in Constanta.

On the other hand, only 105 claims were registered in Giurgiu, 113 in Calarasi, 150 in Ilfov, 154 in Mehedinti and and 170 in Harghita.

The Tax Administration ANAF has to check all winning receipts and the companies that issued them. The final list of winners will be published on the Ministry of Finance’s website and the payments will be done by July 13.

“A new occasional drawing will be organized in June 2015, for the fiscal receipts issued in April and May. No drawing was scheduled for May,” said the Ministry of Finance at Mediafax’s request.

The Ministry intends to make some changes in the Fiscal Lottery to ensure bigger prizes for those with winning receipts.
