Deloitte: Lending to increase by 2.3% in Romania

06 May 2015

Loans granted by banks in Romania will register an increase of 2.3% this year and 4.3% next year.

Lending to individuals will increase by 5.2% in 2016, supported by the mortgage loans granted through the First Home program, according to a Deloitte study. Deposits will increase by 1% this year.

“In Romania, total loans have been declining, but a gradual recovery can be expected as the economic recovery becomes more robust,” reads the report, cited by local Mediafax.

Corporate loans went down by 5% in 2013 and by 6.3% in 2014, due to tightened lending standards and difficulties resulting from accelerating write-offs. However, corporate loans would grow by 2.1% in 2015 and by 4.1% next year.
