Google will open an official office in Romania this month, led by Dan Bulucea (in picture), previously business and marketing director with Microsoft. The new office will deal with implementing Google's strategy in the country, establishing business partnerships with local companies, communications and advertising sales. The activity on the Romanian market used to be managed through Google's office in Ireland.

Adrian Baicusi (in picture), the general manager of Romania’s state-run power grid operator Transelectrica (BVB ticker: TEL), will be replaced by Stelian Alexandru Gal, the former GM of the company, effective November 15, according to a news release sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

Aviad Meitar, one of the founders of the Pepsi franchise in Romania back in the early 90s, remembers the early days of his business venture into the newly democratic country of Romania in an article recently published in the New York Times. “It was also the time of the first Gulf War, and no one really wanted to travel anywhere. I had a tough time getting someone to accompany me to Romania, but I eventually talked a colleague into going with me,” Meitar writes for the NY Times.
