Adela Smeu, the financial director at the local Do-It-Yourself retailer Brico Depot Romania, will become the company’s CEO starting July 1.

She will replace Frenchman Christian Mazauric, who will take over the management of B&Q UK & Ireland, a chain of stores within Kingfisher, which also owns Brico Depot.

Adela Smeu joined the company in 2015 after working for eight years as financial director for OBI Group. She previously worked for United Technology Corporation Paris and PwC Romania. She will be the first Romanian CEO within the Kingfisher group.

Kingfisher plc is a retail home improvement group in Europe, with over 1,100 stores in 10 European countries. Brico Depot operates 15 local stores after taking over the Bricostore chain.
