Romanian agribusiness group brings Frenchman to lead its grain trading division

05 May 2015

Romanian agribusiness group Agricover appointed Frenchman Franck Loschi to coordinate its grain trading division. This new move is part of Agricover’s strategy to facilitate local farmers’ access to local and foreign markets, the group announced.

Franck Loschi has been working on the French grain market for the past 15 years. He has more than 10 years of experience in grain and oilseeds trading. In the past three years, he has worked as general manager of ADM France, the French subsidiary of Chicago-based agricultural group ADM.

“Agricultural production is a valuable resource for Romania that can bring it a key role in covering vital needs, such as human food, animal feed, industrial and energy production, on an international level,” Loschi said in a press release.

As Grain Trading Director, his main responsibilities are to generate, develop and maintain partnerships with grain traders and local processing industry. The partnerships with international traders are of special importance for the group.

Loschi is the third high-profile manager that Agrivocer has brought in in the past three years, after Dutch banker Robert Rekkers, who took over the group’s financial division, Agricover IFN, in 2012, and Stefan Bucataru, who became general manager of Agricover’s Agribusiness division, in 2014. Rekkers was previously Banca Transilvania’s CEO while Bucataru was general manager of state-owned power grid operator Transelectrica.

The group’s business increased by 18% last year, to EUR 285 million. Azeri businessman Jabbar Kanani founded Agricover in 2000 and now coordinates it as chairman of the board.
