Romania’s partnership agreement for next 7 years, accepted by European Commission

06 August 2014

The European Commission (EC) recently validated the Partnership Agreement with Romania for the 2014-2020 period. This document, which was created by Romania’s European Funds’ Ministry, presents the way that European structural and investment funds will be used in the next period.

“Romania has the Partnership Agreement 2014-2020 already validated by the four commissioners, the official decision of the EC should be published in the following days,” said Eugen Teodorovici, Romania’s minister responsible with the absorption of EU funds.

Negotiations on this document started in early 2013. In July this year, EU officials warned the Romanian Government that the document it sent was incoherent and lacked clear priorities for the use of European funds, and asked the document to be redone by September. Romania should get EU funds worth EUR 43 billion, of which EUR 22 billion for the cohesion policy.
