Romania’s first dinosaur park attracts over 100,000 visitors in 2 months

11 August 2015

Over 100,000 people visited Dino Parc Rasnov, the largest dinosaur park in South–Eastern Europe, in just two months. The number exceeds the investors’ estimations for an entire year.

Opened on June 12 this year, the park located in central Romania covers an area of 1.6 hectares and hosts 46 real-life sized dinosaurs. It also includes a gift shop, and a museum opened in collaboration with Tara Hategului Dinosaur Geopark, where visitors can see an original skeleton of the Balaurul Bondoc dinosaur, the only species of dinosaur found on Romanian territory.

“We have reached a maximum of 2,000 visitors per day during weekdays, and we welcomed up to 4,000 tourists per day during weekends. There are also many foreign tourists who visit us, some of them coming from other continents just to see the park and the dinosaurs,” said Adrian Apostu, project manager.

The investment in the park amounted to some EUR 5 million, 70% of which came from European funds. The investors plan to keep expanding the park every year.

Dino Parc Rasnov is open daily between 09:30 and 19:30. Tickets cost RON 28 for adults, and RON 22 for children. Kids under 3 enter for free.
