Romania, second largest drop in house prices in Q2

Romania recorded the second largest quarterly drop in house prices in the second quarter of this year, of 1.3%, according to data from Eurostat. Slovenia recorded the largest decrease, a quarter-on-quarter drop of 2.6%.

Compared to the first quarter of 2014, house prices rose by 0.9% in the euro area and by 1.4% in the EU in the second quarter of 2014.

When compared to the same quarter in 2013, the highest house price increases in the second quarter of 2014 were recorded in Estonia – up 14.5%, Ireland – up 12.5% and the UK – up 10.2%, while the largest falls were registered in Slovenia – down 9.8%, Italy – minus 4.8% and Romania – minus 3.8%.
