Over half of dairy products made in Olympus' EUR 55 mln Romanian factory go to export
The factory produced milk, cheese and yoghurt and uses only milk from producers in the region: Brasov, Covasna, Cluj and Harghita counties. Products made by Olympus in Romania are already sold in Italy and Bulgaria. Around 60 percent of the production will go to export, in countries like Germany, UK and in Eastern European countries, while the rest will be sold locally.
Olympus entered the Romanian market in 1999, with a milk processing factory in Baraolt, which has been closed down after the opening of the new unit.
The new Olympus factory has a receiving capacity of 40,000 liters of milk per hour and three production lines, for yoghurt – 120 tonnes a day, cheese – 100 tonnes a day and milk- 16,000 liters an hour for milk in PET packaging and 10,500 liters an hour for milk in Tetrapak packaging.
In Greece, Olympus also produces juice and could add this production line in Romania as well, according to its representatives.
