Orthodox Christian Church celebrating Saint Parascheva on October 14
The entire Romanian Patriarchy celebrates and worships St. Parascheva, but she is particularly seen as the protector of Moldavia (Romanian eastern province). On this special occasion, the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) Patriarch Daniel accompanied by a group of hierarchs, priests and deacons are officiating the Holy Liturgy in Iasi.
The Pious (also called the New) Saint Parascheva of Iasi and Moldavia's Enlightener and Pride of Entire Orthodoxy lived in the first half of the 11th century and was born at Epivata (nowadays Boiados in Bulgaria), in Thrace, on the shore of the Marmara Sea near Constantinople.
