Half of the fixed internet connections in Romania are high-speed
Romanians had about 4.1 million fixed internet connections at the end of June this year, 6.6% more compared to June 2014.
These connections recorded a total traffic of 2.2 million TB in the first half of the year. The average monthly consumption reached 90 GB, according to Romania’s Communication Authority ANCOM.
The number of high-speed fixed internet connections, which allow speeds of over 100Mbps, rose by 86% year-on-year, reaching over 2 million. They represent almost half of the total fixed internet connections.
In rural areas, fixed internet connections increased by 13.3% year-on-year to 1.1 million. By comparison, fixed connections in cities rose by only 4.2% to 3 million.
