Bucharest’s main airport prepares to build new terminal

18 April 2018

The procedures for building a new terminal at the Henri Coanda International Airport, which serves Romania’s capital, are ongoing.

The Romanian state will soon be able to make expropriations to secure the land necessary for this project, according to Valentin Iordache, a spokesman for the Bucharest Airports Company, cited by local Agerpres.

Traffic on the airport has increased significantly in recent years and is expected to go over 14 million this year, according to Iordache.

The new terminal will be a standalone building, separate from the existing terminals.

The Bucharest Airports Company has also started the work on revamping its two runways, which should be completed in November 2018. The airport will change the runway understructure on a surface of 3,050 sqm and change the tarmac on 9,500 sqm of runways.
