Amazon creates 650 new jobs at new tech center in Bucharest

Amazon, the biggest online retailer in the world, and Amazon Web Services officially opened the group’s new Development and Technology Center in Bucharest on Wednesday, May 9.

The new center will create 650 permanent jobs in the technology sector in addition to the 1,000 employees the group already has in Romania. Amazon is looking to recruit engineers, linguistics specialists, project and team managers.

The new center will work on creating new features of the Amazon technology, including building the language behind the Alexa device, the group announced.

Amazon has been present in Romania for 13 years, with a tech center in Iasi. The group has invested about EUR 100 million in the country, in developing new technologies.
