US-financed infrastructure projects inaugurated at military base

Ten US-financed infrastructure projects worth EUR 4.6 million will be inaugurated today at the Mihail Kogalniceanu (MK) military base in South-Eastern Romania.

The new constructions include aircraft maintenance facilities, equipment stores, a car park, a car wash station and classrooms, according to Romania’s Defense Ministry. Some of them have already been completed, while others are close to completion.

The projects were financed via the United States’ European Reassurance Initiative.

The US increased its presence in Europe under the umbrella of the European Reassurance Initiative. This led to an increase in bilateral and multilateral exercises, as well as to an improved military infrastructure.
