Romania’s Gura Humorului included in a list of beautiful small towns in Europe

Japanese travel agents have come up with a list of 30 beautiful towns in Europe and Romania’s Gura Humorului is on it.

The recommendations were made at the proposal of the Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA), which wants to promote smaller destinations in Europe, reports The Telegraph.

“In the north of Romania, Gura Humorului is a town nestled in a depression near where the Moldova and Humour Rivers meet, replete with an array of colourful buildings,” reads the Romanian town’s presentation.

Gura Humorului is a town of some 12,000 people, located 40 kilometers west of Suceava. In addition to the picturesque hills surrounding the city, tourists going to Gura Humorului can visit the famous Voronet Monastery, one of Bucovina's painted monasteries.

The other 29 towns are Kilkenny (Ireland), Berat (Albania), Civita di Bagnoregio (Italy), Procida (Italy), Conwy (Wales), Lech (Austria), Hindeloopen (Netherlands), Lefkara (Cyrpus), Rovinj (Croatia), Soglio (Switzerland), Visby (Sweden), Setenil de las Bodegas (Spain), Piran (Slovenia), Vlkolinec (Slovakia), Marianske-Lazne (Czech Republic), Quedlinburg (Germany), Bernkastle-Kues (Germany), Golyazi (Turkey), Reine (Norway), Sopron (Hungary), Koprivshtitsa (Bulgaria), Porvoo (Finland), Saint Cinq Lapopie (France), Riquewihr (France), Sint-Martens-Latem (Belgium), Zalipie (Poland), Monsanto (Portugal), Ohrid (Macedonia), and Kotor (Montenegro).

The Telegraph Travel includes Romanian road in a list of 10 best drives in Europe. 

Conde Nast Traveler puts Romanian citadel on a list of 10 most beautiful snow castles in the world.

CNN includes Romania in a list of top holiday destinations for 2016.
