Romanians spend on average EUR 10 to accessorize smartphones and only EUR 5 for entry-level mobile phone accessories, according to EuroGsm, Orange Romania’s largest retailer.

The main criteria when purchasing accessories are the compatibility with the mobile device, the way of using the device and the budget.  “Those using entry-level mobile phones are mainly oriented towards hands-free accessories, with cable or using Bluetooth technology, which gives them a certain freedom when using the device,” says Zoltan Halmai, Commercial Manager EuroGsm. However, smartphones users are choosing accessories to protect their phone, such as silicone cases, or protective sheets for the touch screen.

Car kits and Bluetooth special headsets are among men’s favorite accessories, while women usually buy fashion accessories, such as colored cases for notebooks or tablets, phone cases from fashion brands, or Bluetooth headsets with special design.

Other accessories that smart mobile device users are more and more sought after are the cases made especially to protect mobile phones when running or exercising, as well as gloves for touchscreen, which allow the use of the device in winter, in low temperatures. “Among the most original accessories sold locally, there are Bluetooth watches that connect to smartphones and tablets and send notifications based on the device’s activity, hats with headphones, or cases with solar charging,” added Zoltan Halmai.

EuroGsm is headquartered in Cluj Napoca, Romania, and has over 100 shops in 78 cities around the country.
