Romanian state secretary: All taxes to be paid exclusively online from Dec. 2018

18 May 2017

All taxes and contributions in Romania will be paid exclusively online from December 2, 2018, said yesterday Ilan Laufer, state secretary in the ministry for business environment, trade and environment.

Laufer spoke of the "need for de-bureaucratization". He added that a special department for de-bureaucratization was already set up within the Government’s General Secretariat, reports local Economica.net.

Romania will have only 50 taxes starting January 1, 2018, he added.

On February 1, a new law came into force removing 102 non-fiscal taxes. The law was promoted by Social-Democratic leader Liviu Dragnea during the campaign for the parliamentary elections in 2016.
