Romanians living abroad help promote Romanian products

Most of the Romanians living abroad try to find and use products that remind them of their country, and recommend them to their friends.

For example, 91% of Romanians abroad use Romanian products in the country where they live, whether they buy them from Romanian shops (76% of those who use them) or bring them directly from Romania (43%), according to a study carried out by MKOR Consulting, cited by Startupcafe.ro.

Moreover, 61% of the Romanians living abroad recommend Romanian products to their friends. Some of them buy such products from the hypermarkets in their area (18%) or online stores (14%).

Most of those who went abroad found Romanian brands in the country where they are (88%), mainly in Romanian-specific stores (75% of them) and in hypermarkets (48%).

The most visible brands abroad are Dacia, ROM chocolate, Gusto pufuleti (corn puff snacks), Gerovital (cosmetics), Cotnari (wine), Borsec (bottled water), Timisoreana (beer), Bucegi Pate and Sibiu Salami, and Boromir (bakery products).

The study, called Romania’s Ambassador Brands, was carried out between September and November 2017 on more than 1,100 Romanians living abroad.
