Romanian pharmacy network ups turnover by a third

Local pharmacy network Dona, which currently runs 275 units, ended 2014 with an EUR 177.6 million turnover, 30% higher than last year and a profit of EUR 6 million.

For 2015, the network plans to go up to 320-350 units and to continue rebranding, reports local Wall-street.ro.

S.I.E.P.C.O.F.A.R, the company that manages the pharmacy network, owned by the businessman Eugen Banciu, reported an EUR 139 million turnover in 2013, down 14.6% from 2012. It posted a loss of EUR 1.68 million, more than three times higher than in 2012.

Most of the sales come from prescription drugs (70-75%), followed by drugs without prescription, with 10-15%, food supplements with 8-10% and cosmetics, with 3- 5%.

Dona began a rebranding process last year, which requires investments of up to EUR 15 million.
