New car registrations go up 6% in Romania in February
New passenger car registrations in Romania went up by 5.7% in February versus the same month of 2017, to 8,777 units, according to data from the License and Registrations Bureau – DRPCIV.
Overall, new vehicle registrations increased by 3.5%, to 12,401 units, local Agerpres reported.
Trailer registrations more than doubled to over 1,100 units while motorcycle registrations increased by 47%, to 144 units. Freight transport vehicles, however, saw a 24% decline in registrations, to 1,949 units, according to the same source.
Local brand Dacia leads the ranking in terms of new vehicle registrations, with almost 2,200 units, up by 5.4% over February 2017. Volkswagen was second, with 918 units, up 31% year-on-year, followed by Skoda, with 760 units (+8%), Ford, with 642 units (+16%) and Opel, with 588 units (+18%).
The total car park in Romania included over 7.63 million units at the end of 2017, 1.32 million of which were registered in Bucharest.
