Metro line plans advance to feasibility study stage for Romania’s western city of Timisoara

07 January 2015

Nicolae Robu, the mayor of Romanian city of Timisoara, recently said that a feasibility study will be made for the project to build a metro line in the city, reports local publication Ziua de Vest.

The future metro line will connect the North Train Station (Gara de Nord) to the airport, via Iulius Mall, the East Train Station (Gara de Est) and the Zoo.

“We begin with the feasibility study, not the actual implementation. Rethinking this subject is not unfounded because I gave the green light for contracting the feasibility study – it’s not a forgotten project, but the problem is to ensure the funds,” said the mayor.

Timisoara’s mayor first mentioned this idea back in 2013, reports Ziua de Vest.
