Consumer prices up by 0.4% in Romania
Consumer prices increased in January this year by 0.4% both month-on-month, and year-on-year.
Food prices went up by 0.5% in January compared to December last year, while the prices of non-food goods rose by 0.2% and the service charges increased by 0.6%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.
Vegetables recorded the highest growth, 4.5%, followed by eggs (1.2%) and fruits (1%).
Compared to January 2014, the food prices went down by 0.7%, but the non-food goods prices increased by 0.5% and the tariffs by 2.2%.
In the last 12 months, consumer prices grew on average by 1% over the previous 12 months.
