Car sales speed up to 15.4% in Romania

Car sales increased by 15.4% in January over the previous month in Romania, but went down by 29.3% compared to December 2014.

There were 5,535 vehicles sold in January, 4,493 of which were passenger cars.

Companies continue to make most of the acquisitions, namely 86%.

The import of used cars has started growing in the last semester of 2014. In January 2015, it went up by 14.3% year-on-year, according to The Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA). Over 60% of these are older than ten years.

Dacia sold most of the new cars, namely 1,346 units, which make 30% of the total, followed by Skoda (518 units, 11.5%) and Volkswagen (456 units, 10.1%). The best-selling model in January was Dacia Logan.
