Bucharest metro company's auction attracts several bidders

Bucharest metro operator Metrorex wants to buy 51 new trains for some EUR 353 million. The trains will be purchased via an open auction, which attracted several bidders.

Romanian company Astra Vagoane Calatori Arad, owned by businessman Valer Blidar, submitted an offer of some EUR 5.1 million per train. Under their offer, the total contract value would reach EUR 260.1 million, below the estimation. The announcement was made by Club Feroviar, which also revealed the names of the four other bidders, repors local Capital.

Alstom submitted an offer of EUR 6.3 million per train, CAF – EUR 6.06 million per train, CSR (China) – some EUR 5.22 million per train and Pesa – EUR 6.5 million per train.
