World famous mimes arriving in Bucharest for festival, show to be held at metro station

London – based band Theatre de l'ange fou, founded by Steven Wasson and Corinne Soum, the last disciples of famous mime Etienne Decroux, is currently in Bucharest for the festival “European masks at...Masca”, held by the local Masca theater.

Not only the Masca theater will host shows, but metro commuters will be able to watch a show on Sunday, November 11, the last day of the festival, at the Unirii 1 metro station starting 12:30. The metro station show is called Pierrot the Daredevil.

Theatre de l'ange fou will also hold two workshops, on Friday, November 9, from 10:00, and on Saturday, November 10, from 09:30, at the Jacques Lecoq hall of the Masca Theater.

A series of pantomime shows will be held at the theater during the festival. Tickets cost RON 15 and RON 20 and can be bought from the theater (70-72 Uverturii Blvd.). To reserve tickets, email rezervari@masca.ro.

The Theatre de l'Ange Fou and the International School of Corporeal Mime (formerly known as the Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique) were created in Paris in 1984 by Steven Wasson and Corinne Soum, the last assistants of "the father of Modern Mime" Etienne Decroux. They abandoned Paris for London in 1995.

Etienne Decroux was a film and theater actor also nicknamed the moving statue. He died aged 92, in Paris, in the early 90s.
