It’s time to vote: Romanian Simona Halep nominated for March WTA Player of the Month

07 April 2015

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, currently number 3 in the world, is one of WTA’s three nominations for Player of the Month in March.

The other two tennis players are world number 1 Serena Williams and Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro.

You can cast your vote here. The winner will be announced this Friday, April 10.

Simona Halep played some of the best tennis in her career in March.

She won the Indian Wells tennis tournament after a long final with Serbian Jelena Jankovic. It was the third title this year, but her first career WTA Premier Mandatory title.

Halep then entered Miami looking to become the first player since 2005 to complete the Indian Wells/Miami double, but again met Serena Williams in the semifinals. If Williams has withdrawn from the semifinals in Indian Wells, this time she was fit and battled past Halep winning 7-5 in the third set.

Halep is at number 3 in the WTA rankings, with 7,571 points. Serena Williams ranks first with 9,981 points, while Russian Maria Sharapova comes second with 7,890 points.
