Romania's public debt reaches EUR 51 billion after first six months

Romania's public debt grew to EUR 51 billion in the first six months of the year, reaching a level of almost 40 percent of the country GDP, according to the Public Finances Ministry in the country. The growth was of EUR 4.6 billion compared to the end of 2010.

46 percent of the country's public debt is in EUR, while 8.64 percent in other foreign currencies. Most of the debt is made of state loans – 37 percent, followed by bonds – 22 percent and treasury certificates, with 17.5 percent. Eurobonds covered 8.2 percent of the debt.

The country's Governmental debt makes the bulk of iits public debt – with 94.5 percent. The rest is the local public debt.
