Romanian Post introduces new web platform for money transfers

26 October 2015

The Romanian Post has implemented a new web platform, which allows customers to send money online. The platform was offered by the local lender BCR.

Users can also calculate tariffs for several services, including international deliveries. The platform can be used to make subscriptions to various publications or fill in different forms online.

“The website of the Romanian Post has become a transaction platform, not only an information platform,” said Alexandru Petrescu, general director of the Romanian Post.

The state has recently failed again to privatize the Romanian Post. The Belgian postal services operator bpost, which was the only investor that had shown interest in this process, didn’t submit a binding offer for taking over a 51% stake in the company by September 15, when the deadline expired.

Alexandru Petrescu said that the sale of shares by public subscription, followed by the listing on the capital market, was the best capitalization option for the Romanian Post.

The Romanian Post recorded a profit of EUR 5 million at the end of last year, after five years of losses.
