Romanian insurer Omniasig pays EUR 4.2 mln to victims of bus accident in Montenegro

Romanian insurance company Omniasig, part of Austrian Vienna Insurance Group, announced that it paid some EUR 4.2 million in damages for the victims of the bus accident in Montenegro last year.

On June 23, 2013, a bus carrying Romanian tourists crashed in a gorge in the mountains of Montenegro. Eighteen people died then and 28 were injured. Omniasig was the insurer of the bus. As part of the insurance, the company opened 47 damage cases for the passengers and the drivers of the bus.

The company already settled 42 cases in which it paid EUR 4.15 million and it expects to settle the other cases. The only exception is the case involving the driver of the bus, who was considered responsible for the accident and who also died. Damages claimed by his family were not settled, Omniasig announced.
